Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,
Becky, Nik, Kevin, Conrad and I made it out to the site yesterday and had a good
day excavating. We worked on excavating the 35-40 cm level of units in the 110
West Block (see Map). We recovered numerous
flakes and bone fragments. In the afternoon, we noted burned soil and ash in the
southwest corner of unit 3S-107W. We opened unit 4S-107W in order to further
investigate this feature – thus unit had not been opened previously because of a
nearby tree. We recovered another bifacially worked scraper in the 20-25 cm
level (see Photo 1) – this is the second one
we have found this year. Another one was recovered on September 29 in unit
1S-100W (see SEPTEMBER 29, 2007).
This week we will be at the Resource Building on Wednesday evening. Next
Saturday we will try to excavate again if the weather permits – I’ll send a note
later in the week about that.
Scott
