
A few one-piece buttons, like the ones in the pictures below, were found during the excavations. The picture on the left shows the front and the picture on the right shows the back. Neither of the buttons in this picture have there eyes preserved, nor do any of the buttons from the site have manufacturer's names or quality designations. The button on the left in these pictures is a "tombac" button. "Tombac" was an alloy of brass "... containing a high percentage of zinc and lesser amount of arsenic." These were popular in the 1770-1800 period (Tice 1997:2). The button on the right is a one-piece brass button.
