Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

We made it out to the Sias East site yesterday morning and began the 2008 field season. It was a little
cold and quiet windy. Marianne, Dave, Kevin, Nik, Becky, and I made it out (see Photo 1).

We excavated the 0-20 cm level (top of the Plow Zone) in units 0S-104W and 1N-104W (see Map). Several flakes, a few bone flakes, and one GTP sherd were recovered in each unit. An endscraper was also recovered in 0S-104W (see Photo 2).

This week we will be at the Resource Building Wednesday evening. Next Saturday we will try to
excavate at Sias East – weather permitting.

Hope to see you at the site.

Scott
