Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

Just a quick note – Terry Martin identified the bone we found in Feature 4 on Saturday. He wrote:
“The pictures are very clear. You have the right tibiotarsus of a chicken, Gallus gallus.” (see Photo 1 and Photo 2 in the photo gallery below)

It’s looking like the Pontons had most domestic farmyard animals at the site – we’ve now found pig, cow, and chicken. We don’t have sheep/goat from the Ponton site yet, but Terry has identified a sheep/goat bone at the Cater site across the river!
