Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,
We made it out to the site a week ago Saturday (8-11-06) – Greg, Kevin, and I.
We began excavating the 35-40 cm level. We found another Middle Woodland point
in the disturbed area on the north side of the excavation and a small scraper. I
took a core in the center of one of the units (to 80 cm below the surface) and
it appears that are A2 unit is not there – it should be around 60-70 cm if these
units are like 80 m West. Though it’s still to earlier to say what’s going on.
Our schedule this week will be a little different than usual. We won’t be
meeting this Wednesday (Kevin and I won’t be able to make it and Marianne and
Nik decided to take the week off). However, we will be digging on both Saturday
and Sunday this week since John Osborne will be in town for a visit! This will
be our Labor Day dig a week early!
Hope to see you at the site.
Scott
