
In the early 1970's excavations were conducted at the Naugle site prior to construction of CNC's Visitor Center. Pine charcoal from Feature 1 at the site was submitted for dating. The resulting date was 2850 ± 110 b.p. (CWR 169). This is an early date with a large standard deviation, so the 2 sigma calibrated date range for this date is rather large - 1368-808 B.C.

Artifacts from the Naugle site that are likely associated with this date include a "Pomranky point" and fragments of Meadowood points -- illustrated below.
