    In 2002, the Michigan Historic Preservation Network presented their Government/Institution Award to Chippewa Nature Center (and the Oxbow Archaeologists) for its "Contribution to Historic Preservation in Michigan and in recognition of Its Long Standing Archaeological Preservation and the Cater Site Project."  On April 26, 2002, Dick Touvell, Dave Frurip, and Scott Beld traveled to Traverse City to receive the award for CNC and the Oxbow Archaeologists.

    In 2005 the Oxbow Archaeologists had a display at the Midland Center for the Arts in conjunction with an exhibit on Ancient Egypt.  To see a description and photographs of this display, follow this link:   2005 EXHIBIT.
