COINS

PONTON SITE COINS

Art found five coins on the site.  Four of these were found at one time around 1979 or 1980.  The fifth coin was found in October 1995.  They come from the southwest corner of the site.

Obverse of the coins from the Ponton Site.

The coin on the left is a "Blacksmith Copper" (see BLACKSMITH COPPER), the coin in the center is a British penny (see BRITISH PENNY), and the three coins on the right are U.S. large cents (see 1825 LARGE CENT, 1833 LARGE CENT, and 1834 LARGE CENT).
