This summer (2007) Chippewa Nature Center is considering expanding their Visitor Center. As part of the expansion plans, the Oxbow Archaeologists are currently salvaging areas of the Naugle site that will likely be impacted by the new construction. Prior to the construction of CNC's Visitor Center in 1974, volunteer archaeologists, under Fel Brunett's direction, conducted salvage excavations. This work was published by Doreen Ozker in 1976 (Doreen Ozker, "The Naugle Site (20MD30), Midland County, Michigan: Early Late Woodland and Late Archaic Components on a Pine River Site," The Michigna Archaeologist Vol. 22, No. 4, pp. 315-355).
