OX SHOE

This ox shoe was found on the Ponton site.  While this artifact could possibly come from a latter occupation, we know that the Pontons had oxen.  Judge Albert Miller records in his recollections of life in the Saginaw Valley that he brought the Ponton's ox cart to the site in December 1833 by lashing two dug-out canoes together and poling it up the river.
