Walk 100 Miles
Register at the temporary visitor center to walk 100 miles on Chippewa Nature Center Trails and you will receive a logbook in which to keep track of the dates and mileage you have traveled. To achieve your goal, travel along any of the nature center trails by walking, skiing or snowshoeing. Take in the beautiful views along the Pine and Chippewa Rivers, investigate the fields, forests and wetlands, see how things change throughout the seasons, look for and enjoy the bountiful wildlife and join the many guided hikes throughout the year.

Travel 100, 200 or 500 miles in 2010 and receive a t-shirt to mark your achievement!  Three additional prizes will be awarded to the three people who have logged the most miles.

We will meet at Chippewa Nature Center's temporary Visitor Center and then take a van to the Riverview Property. To borrow snowshoes, please call 631-0830 to reserve a pair owned by the Nature Center. If snow conditions are unfavorable the hike will be canceled (based on the discretion of CNC).

Full Moon Snowshoe/Hike
Join Janea Little and Kyle Bagnall for a nighttime hike on snowshoes under the light of the full moon. With good snow cover, the bright reflection of the full moon will give us plenty of light to see by as we explore the Nature Center at night. With some luck, we'll see a fox or raccoon or hear coyotes howling at the moon! To borrow snowshoes, please call 631-0830 to reserve a pair owned by the Nature Center. Meet at the temporary Visitor Center.

Please arrive promptly at the start of the program so we can maximize our time outdoors.

Snowshoeing the Wetlands Area
Whether you are a beginner or have strapped snowshoes on many times before, you are welcome to join CNC's Jackie Kelly for a walk on the trails at our Wetlands Area. We'll look for animal tracks, birds, and other points of interest, and enjoy the snowy scenery. Meet Jackie at the Wetlands Area parking lot on Badour Road, south of the intersection of Pine River Road and Badour Road. To borrow snowshoes, please call 631-0830 to reserve a pair owned by the Nature Center. If snow conditions are unfavorable, the hike will be canceled (based on the discretion of CNC).
