Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

Dave, Nik, and I made it out to the site on Saturday. It was a beautiful day and we opened two new units (see Map).

In the morning we opened units 1N-109W (on the north side of the block) and unit 5S-110W (on the south side of the block – to help drain rain water from the excavation). We excavated these units to about 25 cm (i.e., the plow zone) and recovered flakes and bone fragments.

In the afternoon, I trowelled the 25-30 cm level of units 4S-111W and 4S-112W. The usual flakes, bone fragments, F.C.R., etc. were recovered. I also found a notched point base in 4S-111W (see Photo 1) and in unit 4S-112W a rimsherd of Vessel 1 (see Photo 2) and a utilized flake.

On Wednesday we’ll plan on working at the Resource Building. I’d like to start washing the 1/8” screen bags and get the flotation tank set up. We’ll plan on excavating at the site on Saturday, weather permitting.

Hope to see you at the site.

Scott
