Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

Dave, Nik, Becky, Marianne, and I made it out to the site yesterday. In the morning we opened two new units, 2S-101W and 2S-102W, and excavated them to 20 cm (see map-9-6-08.gif). We found a few flakes, bone fragments, and fire-cracked rock at this level (top of the plow zone).

In the afternoon, I worked on finishing units in the original area of the 110 West Block. I excavated the 40-45 cm level of units 0S-107W, 0S-108W, 1S-107W, 1S-108W, 2S-107W, and 2S-108W. There was a small fragment of a scraper bit in one of these units. Otherwise there were only a few flakes, fire-cracked rock and the occasional small bone fragment.

This week we will meet at the Resource Building on Wednesday evening. Next Saturday, we will excavate at Sias East.

Hope to see you at the site.

Scott
